The Winston Hills Sports Club contribution to WHLAC

At the start of each season, when families come to register for Little Athletics, one of the costs paid is membership to Winston Hills Sports Club. For those that have been at Winston Hills Little Athletics Centre for many years they are, in fact, aware of the contribution made by the Sports Club to our Centre. But, for the new families, some may never have even heard of the Sports Club before and may be wondering what benefits they receive from being part of the club.

Winston Hills Sports Club is one of our key sponsors and benefactors since the formation of WHLAC in 1975. They have four auxiliaries under its wing being Little Athletics, Winston Hills Soccer Club, Winston Hills Netball Club and Winston Hills Cricket Club.

Winston Hills Sports Club has allowed our centre to thrive and be at the forefront of other clubs by providing financial assistance in many ways. In the last ten years our club has had financial support towards the developing of two throws areas at a cost of $78,000.00, assistance with the cost of purchasing the timing gates at $7,000.00, $165,000.00 for the refurbishment of our clubhouse, payment of training courses for our coaches and rebating the cost of our equipment purchased including our new rotary hoe to turn the sand in our jump pits. The Sports Club also gives financial support to the athletes from our centre who represent the centre at state level or higher and assists in sending our athletes to Trans Tasman in New Zealand.

So as you can see, we, as a centre are very fortunate to be a part of Winston Hills Sports Club, our umbrella organisation. With this in mind we owe a big THANK-YOU to Jim Hollis-Watts (President) and Steve Shafer  (Treasurer), stalwarts of the club, and all the Board Members from Winston Hills Sports Club for their ongoing financial and other support to our centre.
