President: Paul Byron Hi everyone, Only 1 week to State Relays!!!! I am looking forward to seeing everyone having a great time at Campbelltown this year; it should be a fantastic event. I hope all the running teams are getting their baton changes sorted out. Don’t forget it’s ok to do some relay training on Saturdays after your events to gain an advantage over the other Centres. Relays are some of the most exciting athletic events and our teams will surely provide plenty to cheer about. Any Age Managers who are still finalising team members will need to see Paul Cochrane this morning and submit your athletes’ names. Remember, this is a FULL CENTRE UNIFORM carnival. This means centre registration number, IGA patch and age patch on the front and the centre number (76) patch on the back of the uniform. We are waiting on a ruling from the association regarding our sponsor patch, so we may not need to wear this. In case you do, there will be ample supplies to pin on at the event. We are unsure of the seating arrangements at Campbelltown at this stage, but we will endeavour to have a Club banner (or a sponsors banner) so you can find our gang and all sit (& CHEER) together.
Congratulations
also to the 9 athletes who took part in the Trans Tasman trials. 4
athletes have been selected to represent NSW and take part in the Trans
Tasman Challenge match. Corey Mackay and Francesca Mayol Zone nomination forms are now on the website as well as on page 21 in the Information Book. They need to be returned by Saturday December 6th so that selections can be made and everyone notified on the last running day before Christmas (20th December). The heats of the Celebration Day relay challenge will be held on Saturday 29th November at 8:15am (straight after the early run or walk event). I will email all those involved personally, but please be here as the “no replacement” rule we implemented to reward those who were here on the day means that if one athlete is missing, your team will have to forfeit. The final will be run 2 weeks later (after Pacific Schools Games) on the 13th December. The backmarker’s challenge will be run on the last running day before Christmas on the 20th of December. Remember to keep the children well protected from the sun with a hat and plenty of sunscreen and lead by your good example by putting your own on too! With the recent very warm weather, don’t forget to have plenty of water handy as well. Paul Byron 15 November 2008 |
